The AI that turned one scientist's tangled thinking into a script his students could follow

Sep 22, 2026

Dr. Juan Rodriguez Vita runs a lab studying tumor stroma communication, focused on how tumor cells produce hyaluronic acid to reeducate the surrounding stroma in a pro tumoral direction, driving immunosuppression and extracellular matrix remodeling across endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and macrophages.

Before EMET, he had tried several other AI tools, including one that fabricated citations outright and a general purpose assistant licensed by his institution. He kept coming back to EMET for one reason: its citations were accurate and easy to verify.

"The thing I like about the platform is that the citations are accurate. You can track them down and verify what it's saying..Yours is the one I keep going back to and rely on most, because I think it's much more accurate in the searches it's doing."

Turning a tangled signaling network into a script his students can follow

For a project spanning multiple interacting cell types, hyaluronic acid, and stroma reprogramming, Juan described his own understanding as a cork board covered in red lines, comprehensible to him but hard to hand off. Talking it through with EMET turned that into something linear.

"In your head, it all looks like a cork board with red lines connecting everything; it's really messy…When you have a conversation with EMET about it, it manages to make things more comprehensible. I send that script to my students so they have an easier way to follow my brain."

Staying skeptical

Juan treats EMET the way he would treat a colleague presenting a hypothesis: he pushes back. Working from a phenotype observed by electron microscopy, he asked EMET to list possible explanations, then challenged each one against the biology he knew, including whether a structure should show a double membrane consistent with autophagy. He treats every confident answer as a starting point for his own scrutiny, not a conclusion.

That combination, fast literature triage plus a standing habit of checking the tool's confidence against the data, is what an agentic workbench built for scientific reasoning is meant to enable: a co-scientist a lab can lean on for speed, without being asked to switch off its own judgment.
